Hexa Gear Chapter 1. How did we get here?

In the near future, the world’s energy crisis deepens. The human population expands exponentially, and energy resources become depleted.

Fossil fuel giants frustrate Governments who fail to innovate in renewables and as the demands increase the energy companies become wealthier and more powerful than ever.

Governments all around the world begin to rely on big energy profits to avert financial and economic crises. The lines between big business and politics blur.

The rich become richer, and the poor become poorer. This increasing divide causes conflict and instability in one place after another. This in turn affects global trade and cooperation. A solution to the global energy and financial crisis becomes desperate.

The United Nations gathers the world's governments in a last-ditch attempt to combat corruption and inspire global peace, unity, and prosperity. Its solution? An attempt to build an international space station with the aim of turning it into a platform to venture deep into space to mine resources from other worlds and element-rich asteroids.

The project begins in earnest but the increasing political instability on Earth and the financial drain it requires soon see member governments pull out. The project grinds to an agonizing halt. The United Nations collapses as members pull out and seek their own independent solutions.

It seems the world is doomed to desperation and chaos. And then a breakthrough. This is where the Hexa Gear story begins.

A new highly versatile energy source is developed. The HEXA G-R.A.M! This amazing source of power is a highly sophisticated power cell. This incredible power cell possesses amazing properties. It has the ability to regain or recharge itself independently over time. When manufactured, the raw compounds that make up the power cells main power-generating components exhibit a hexagonal sub-structure. Naturally, the power cells were first produced in these shapes. They were first used on industrial gear such as machines and equipment to great success. These machines and equipment became known as HEXA GEAR. The very first generation of Hexa Gear.

It wasn’t long before the manufacturing process was refined, developed, and improved so that these new power cells could be produced in a variety of shapes, forms, and sizes. Many were now able to be incorporated directly into the Hexa Gear framework. These advancements spawned a new generation of Hexa Gear that was so versatile that almost any form could be created. These power cells became known as the HEXA G-R.A.M, meaning HEXA GEAR-Random Assemble Material, since they quickly became the basis for all new Hexa Gear design and build. A second generation of Hexa Gear was now underway.

It seemed anything was now possible with this new wonder technology. Self-powered and regenerating machines that could be designed and adapted for any purpose, limited only by the creativity of the designer! Human civilization was saved. The energy crisis was solved once and for all. Limitless economic potential for all with new start-up industries spearheading the development of this breakthrough technology.
